School classes are welcome!

With over 64,000 students in the class network (2023), Technorama is the largest out-of-school science learning institution in Switzerland.

As such, Technorama is not only widely recognized among education authorities in all cantons, but also among business circles, chambers of commerce and industry, as well as trade associations (keyword: STEM promotion).

Research

To prepare for your visit, you can use the Technorama Explorer to get an overview of all our offerings. This includes exhibitions, exhibits, workshops and shows, as well as worksheets and group activities for school classes. You’ll also find suggestions for hands-on experiments that can be carried out in the classroom. Use the subject filters and search function to find specific topics – making it easy to integrate your Technorama visit into your lessons.

Prepare your visit and receive personal advice

The best way to get to know Technorama is by visiting in person. To prepare for a class visit, you can do this free of charge: the entrance fee for your preparatory visit will be refunded when you return with your class. Just mention at the ticket desk that you're here for a reconnaissance visit. On Wednesdays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., our didactics team is also available on-site for personal consultation. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact the didactics team.

How to get started

Start your visit with an interactive station to introduce the hands-on approach. Allow small groups to explore the exhibitions independently with clear tasks, but also give room for individual interests. Demonstrations, shows or workshops provide structure and allow for deeper engagement with specific topics. Use our daily programme to plan your visit and give your class time for open exploration. A 5- to 10-minute welcome and introduction to the exhibits is possible until 11:00 a.m. after check-in.

Accessibility

An accessible school trip? No problem at Technorama! With features like the NaviLens app, quiet zones, wheelchair accessibility, assisted communication and inclusive workshops, there’s something for everyone. Assistance dogs are welcome, and support equipment is available for loan.

Times and Meeting Points

Set times and meeting points in advance, as it’s not possible to visit all areas of Technorama in a single day. Focus on your main priorities and consider planning a return visit. Discuss shows and workshops with your class and make sure they gather on time in front of the labs. Suitable meeting points include: the main entrance, exhibition entrances, parking exits (ground floor), and the staircase in Tower 1 (1st floor).

Catering

Take breaks. Schoolchildren are welcome to enjoy their packed snacks in the designated picnic areas. If you prefer to eat in the restaurant, we’ll be happy to welcome you from 10:30 a.m. Please make a reservation for your class in advance and benefit from six different menus specially designed for school groups.

Follow-up

Encourage students to find their own explanations and to describe their observations of the experiments in their own words. The focus is not on using correct scientific terminology, but rather on reprocessing the natural phenomena they experienced. Where possible, we provide more specific guidance on how to follow up on the activities and assignments.
